4 RSVP
(Resource Reservation Protocol) протокол резервирования ресурсов, протокол RSVPстандарт IETF. Протокол сетевого управления, отвечающий за назначение приоритетов различным видам трафика и позволяющий временно резервировать необходимую полосу пропускания сети, повышая этим качество услуг связи при передачах данных. Работает над протоколом IP, поддерживает три типа трафика - обычный (best-effort traffic), чувствительный к скорости передачи (rate-sensitive traffic) и чувствительный к задержкам (delay-sensitive traffic). Первый из них используется, в частности, для передач файлов и для электронной почты; второй гарантирует определённую скорость передачи с переменным временем доставки данных (если приложение требует 100 кбит/с, а реальная пропускная способность 200 кбит/с, маршрутизатор может несколько задержать доставку - такой тип трафика приемлем, например, для видеоконференцсвязи); третий тип требует своевременной доставки данных, но допускает переменную скорость передачи (пример - MPEG 2 видео, где только для ключевых кадров обязательна своевременная доставка, а промежуточные кадры допускают переменную скорость передачи).
